Allentown Area Corvette Club (AACC) Insider Access: Wash Secrets Revealed
A close-knit group of 15 members from the Allentown Area Corvette Club (AACC) attended an exclusive car wash and paint correction class, hosted by Immaculate Paint Protection on July 29th, 2023.
After our guests enjoyed some camaraderie, coffee, and donuts, Bill Fetter (owner of Immaculate Paint Protection) introduced himself and shared his professional car wash tips and techniques for keeping a Corvette looking better than new with a show-winning shine.
Check out the event recap in their September Newsletter.
The shade and overcast sky made for the perfect car washing weather, allowing plenty of time to teach our guests the proper wash method.
Engaging with the AACC
The Allentown Area Corvette Club had a great time engaging in our wash tutorial, asking important questions about our products, tools, and processes.
One club member asked, “Can you use a garden hose instead of a pressure washer?”
Bill happily explained that a pressure washer isn’t necessary for someone washing their car at home. You can achieve excellent results using a standard garden hose and a spray bottle to foam up the body of your vehicle instead.

Polishing Myths & Mistakes
After the wash, Bill began the polishing and waxing tutorial. He displayed common detailing tools and towels often found at big-box retail stores, explaining that these “cheap” products can actually cause damage over time.
Technique is what matters. As Bill emphasized to the group:
“A black car that’s been polished incorrectly will have buffer trails—those lines and swirls where you can tell the guy’s been on the machine. You should never be able to see that someone’s been there, working on the car.”
Member Feedback
After the polishing tutorial, the audience had time to converse and share their thoughts.
- Richard, a long-time Corvette owner: “I’ve had a Corvette for six years and I found out I’m using the wrong towels! It’s an eye-opener really, and I appreciate Bill taking the time to do this for us.”
- Scott, AACC Member: “I came for educational purposes… I was doing a lot of the wash process backwards.”

The “Do Not Wash” Tag
As a parting gift, we gave each participant a custom “Do Not Wash” tag. These tags can be hung from your rearview mirror so that when you take your car in for service, your paint isn’t at risk of damage from the dealership’s improper wash bay.
These tags were eagerly accepted after the members learned just how destructive a bad wash can be to their Corvette’s paint.
